Fits (engine/year matters — read carefully): This is an internal hard part for the Mercedes-Benz 722.9 automatic transmission (NAG2, marketed as 7G-Tronic and later 7G-Tronic Plus), a 7-speed unit produced from 2003 to 2020 and seen in US-market vehicles from roughly 2005 through 2017. The 722.9 launched on the V8 cars — E 500, S 430, S 500, CL 500 and SL 500 — and spread across the C-Class, CLK, CLS, E-Class, S-Class, CL, SL and SLK, the ML/GL/G SUVs, the R-Class, and Sprinter/Metris vans, in both rear-drive and 4Matic form; Infiniti also used a licensed 722.9 (Nissan code RE7R24A) behind the Mercedes M274 2.0L turbo in the 2014-2019 Q50 2.0t and Q60 2.0t, and SsangYong used a licensed version in the Rexton/Rodius.

Important: This transmission uses several near-identical B2 drums and they will bolt into the same place while being wrong. Do not order by year, model or photo — pull your old drum and do three checks. FIRST, COUNT THE FRICTION PLATES in the pack this drum carries. This is the 5-CLUTCH version. Buffalo stocks the same drum as 288552A (6 clutch), 288552AB (6 clutch), 288552AC (4 clutch) and this 288552AA (5 clutch). If you count 4 or 6, this is the wrong drum. SECOND, MEASURE OVERALL HEIGHT, because clutch count alone is not enough — the 4-clutch 288552AC measures about 3.384" and this one is in the 3.35"-3.54" range, so those two are within roughly three hundredths of an inch of each other and you cannot tell them apart by eye or by height alone. Independent rebuilder references also record 722.9 B2 drums at 99 mm and at 103 mm BOTH with 5 plates, so even "5 clutch" comes in more than one height. Count AND measure.
