GM 6T40 6T45 4-5-6 Clutch Drum Gen 2 3-Ring 9-Hole New Rings Cruze Equinox
Used OEM unit pulled from an inspected donor transmission, cleaned and visually inspected before listing. Photos show a representative unit of this exact part and variant — see the fitment and casting notes below to confirm your match.
OEM / interchange references (verify against your casting/tag):
Fits (engine/year matters — read carefully): This is the second-design ("Gen 2") 3-5-Reverse / 4-5-6 clutch drum for the GM 6T40 (RPO MH8) and 6T45 (RPO MH7) six-speed front-wheel-drive transaxles — the version built to run on the later three-seal input shaft support, generally 2012 and newer. Per ATRA's 6T40/6T45/6T50 update material, GM started the Gen 2 changeover at 2012 start of production on the Buick LaCrosse, Regal and Verano; the Chevrolet Cruze 1.4L turbo (RPO LUJ), Equinox 2.4L and Malibu four-cylinder; and the GMC Terrain 2.4L, then rolled it out to the remaining models through roughly 2014.
Important: The trap is the input shaft support that this drum slides onto, and there are three things to check before ordering — all of them you can do with the transmission apart and a flashlight. 1) COUNT THE SEAL RINGS ON YOUR SUPPORT. The round tower the 4-5-6 drum rides on has sealing rings machined into grooves around it. Gen 1 units (roughly 2008-2011) have FOUR rings. Gen 2 units (roughly 2012-up) have THREE rings, and the support is a smaller diameter. This drum is the THREE-ring / Gen 2 version. If your support has four rings, this is the wrong drum — order the 4-ring/10-hole version (BEC 46550AB) instead. 2) COUNT THE HOLES IN THE DRUM BORE. Look inside the drum hub where the support slides in and count the feed holes. The supplier rates this one at NINE holes. The 4-ring Gen 1 drum has TEN. Count the holes on the drum you are pulling out; if you get ten, do not buy this one. 3) COUNT THE 4-5-6 FRICTIONS AND LOOK FOR A WAVE PLATE. Gen 1 runs four friction plates plus a wave plate.
